Lifeboat Ethics- Amber

I would pick the people I thought would be the most diverse group, and beneficial to humanity. For instance, I would let many women and children on the boat, along with men, but not as many men as women. I would try to fit as many people on the boat as possible. I wouldn't look or talk to the people that I denied. I would feel too bad.

I think that it would be a bad idea to let as many people on the boat as possible because then there is a chance that the boat could sink or flip and then everyone dies including you. Also if you are just avoiding the people who you left in the water then they might get pissed and start attacking the boat and then they might beat you up or throw you in the water.

I see the logic in both of these responses... sort of... Jackson's kind of just rambling. It is definitely a good idea to pick people from both genders, otherwise the possibility of reproduction is not possible. A split/even distribution in age is also a good idea because then you'd have responsible older adults and also some younger children who would hopefully keep the population alive by reproducing later in life. I also agree with Amber that I would detach myself from the people for whom there were was not room on the boat; this would make it so that they could not hold it against me personally.
